Tales of High Strangeness

By sharing this narrative, as in the words of the renowned remote viewer Ingo Swann in his book “Penetration”, “I join a very long list of those that have seen and experienced things they cannot prove happened.”
In 2008, I attended the International UFO Congress in Nevada. I especially wanted to meet with author and contact experiencer Jim Sparks. His 2006 book, “The Keepers” was intriguing. Unlike many in the doom and gloom alien abductionist camp, Mr. Sparks had some very positive things to say about certain ET groups, especially the much maligned so-called “Reptilian” phenotype (category based on appearance).
In “The Keepers”, Jim Sparks describes repeatedly being teleported into “ET” craft flying overhead. He called this shocking experience, “being taken the hard way.” Over the years I have heard similar stories from high-level contactees that I trust. However, because of concerns for their personal safety, I could not name them publicly or go into many of the specifics of their high strangeness encounters.
Another UFO capability described by Jim Sparks is their alleged ability to “cloak” their presence and thus make it impossible for them to be seen. As I recall, he stated that a flying saucer could be parked on your home driveway and make itself invisible. His positive view of close encounters and his statement that he had been given a mission to bring people together around the issue of contact, made me want to recruit him into our human empowered contact network.
My wife Yael and I drove across the desert from Los Angeles and a few fellow contact activists joined us at the Congress to talk with him. After a presentation that was enthusiastically received by the assembled UFO fans, Mr. Sparks agreed to meet us in a hotel room. There, I outlined my involvement in the loose network that I like to call, “The Contact Underground.” Jim Sparks was tall, slender, well dressed and full of charm. I was pleasantly surprised to see him greet my wife Yael with a noble kiss on her hand. She didn’t seem to mind either.
I described my past involvement with CSETI’s CE-5 Initiative and my ongoing work with the Peruvian contactees now called Rahma. Despite my best efforts to convince him to volunteer his time to help facilitate contact in a group setting under fieldwork conditions, I couldn’t get him to commit. One of my co-workers, a young woman that I shall call “Joanie Krieger” was also present in the hotel room to meet with Jim. Several weeks later, she reported having a long conversation with him on the phone. Joanie told me that she finally was “able to get out of him” why he had no apparent interest in working with us. She said that he didn’t want to join our network because his main goal, in her opinion, was to “sell his story to Hollywood” and have them make a movie about his contact experiences.
I suppose that I shouldn’t have been surprised. Living in Los Angeles, just a few miles from “the entertainment capital of the world,” I knew how tempting it is to dream of fame and stardom. I must admit that I too have fantasized about my story being “brought to the silver screen.” Still I was disappointed. I suppose that negative emotion made me wonder whether some parts of Jim Spark’s book might have been exaggerated or perhaps totally made up. I remember specifically thinking that perhaps the ET’s alleged ability “to cloak” their craft was also fiction.
The next day after speaking to Joanie, I received a lesson from an unseen intelligence that I will never forget.
I routinely get notification from California’s Department of Motor Vehicles for my car registration renewals. It is a standard form that has a code with which one can pay online. The day following my thinking that Spark’s story about an “invisible” saucer in his driveway was possibly bogus, I decided it was time to pay for my car registration. In front of my computer, I opened the DMV letter that had been sitting on my desk for weeks and placed it down with several other bills that needed to be paid. I glanced at the form and there in the usual box on the left side of the form was my 6-digit code to pay online.
I was distracted from my task for a few minutes, When I sat down and picked up the form, there was something wrong. The code was no longer present in the appropriate box. I stared and stared at it, but the required numbers were simply not there. The space for the code was totally blank! I then imagined that I had placed the correct form with the code somewhere else in the house and the piece of paper that I was looking at was some accompanying document from the DMV mailing.
I searched all over the house and even complained to Yael how stupid I felt for misplacing the form. Confused, I repeatedly looked at the DMV form at my desk, there was no code in the box. The deadline was coming up in a few days. If I were going to avoid late fees, I had better pay the bill and be done with it. After about a half hour of going through all my paper work around the house, trying to figure out what I could have done with the correct form, I sat down at the computer again and looked at DMV notice. To my utter surprise, the correct code was now visible in the box where before it repeatedly appeared blank. I was astonished. I was left with the distinct impression that an unseen non-human intelligence (presumably ET) was confirming the accuracy of Jim Spark’s invisibility explanation. And they did so by showing me how they could make the DMV code “disappear.”
A month or two later, perhaps in case I didn’t get the point, my card key for a motel room disappeared from the bed side table where I had placed it. It magically reappeared in the correct location on the night table the next day. In addition, I had missing time associated with this motel incident and I experienced a kind of sky quake that hit my motel room as well.
My interpretation of these high strangeness events is that UFO intelligence in no uncertain terms was telling me that indeed Jim’s assertion on the invisibility issue was true . To make certain that I would get the point, the alleged aliens staged two “invisibility” experiences for me.
I end with another quote from Ingo Swann’s “Penetration.”
“In the end, though, the authenticity of my personal, unprovable, experience probably doesn’t need to be considered that much – because the drift of accumulating information is inexorably leading to establishing the authentic existence of extraterrestrial intelligences anyway.” Amen!

In 1997 crop circle investigator David Kingston was my host during a trip to Southern England. He told me about strange visitors who only wanted to talk about human initiated contact with extraterrestrials.
Upon return from a CE-5 mission to the Volcanic Zone where we witnessed a large silent triangular shaped craft, I experienced several High Strangeness events. These included a sighting of a 100-foot UFO over US-10. While carrying out contact protocols with my team in the Santa Monica Mountains, I heard an anomalous sound tract through our research site.

Joseph Burkes reply: Thanks for the comment. Could you explain a bit more about your assessment. If the objects have not physically disappeared but instead our mental faculties are clouded so that they only are not seen and recognized, then the mechanism would be the same whether the object be a pair of keys or a skyscraper.
Name Deleted:The reality, I believe, is somewhere in the middle. I think there are certain scenarios that can take place:
- Fully physical abductions, which in my opinion, are very, very rare. Many abductions that people thought were physical, because it felt so real, could still be the second kind.
- “Astral form” (whatever that is) abductions. I’d say, that this is the most common method of communication, and it can be achieved via sleeping, psychedelics, fasting, meditation, dancing, trauma etc etc, or simply, they come and they remove your astral form on demand whenever it suits them.
Now, both of these types, have subcategories, these can happen in either of the two kinds:
- Things are exactly as you see them. No false memories or other.
- Symbolic memories (surrealistic things). This would mostly happen in high psychedelic doses, or whenever the brain can’t process what it is seeing. But no third-party intervention occurs, it’s just that the brain can’t deal with it.
- VR, AI-generated memories. This is the most common thing that happens. The alien will come close to the eyes of the abductee and induce a fantasy. This is to keep the subject occupied while they operate on it. In an interesting report, the two abductees see a light in the sky, but they continue to walk in the forest, but they felt that the forest felt weird, and even when walking, they felt that their bodies were sitting on a cold slab somewhere else. The walking experience was seamless to them but wasn’t feeling right. Same thing with two Canadian truck drivers, driving in the same loop over and over, until they said to themselves that something is off, and only then the fantasy broke off. That’s just standard suggestive hypnosis on the part of the aliens.
Now, regarding why you can’t remember everything that happened during your missing time From your vantage point, you lost 1 hour of time, and your co-drivers had different bits and pieces of memory. To solve the conundrum, we need to accept a few things:
- The aliens don’t live in the same spacetime as we do. I like to call their experience, as timespace. Time flows differently for them. 1-2 seconds of real-time experience for us, can be HOURS for them. This is why there are countless of reports of people seeing others getting completely frozen mid-step, or not being able to move, or the car engine stops working. In reality, they never stopped walking/working in our real time, but only witnessed like that when in their timespace. Under normal circumstances, our body can not move when they expand time for us, but our astral form can. However, they have the ability to engulf a physical place and have that whole physical space under a UFO to experience a different time rate (as also described by the Alcubierre Drive on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive#/media/File:Alcubierre.png ). That’s the Oz Factor, where all sounds go away (because sound can’t propagate in a still of time). In another report, a guy sees a ufo at night, goes downstairs, loses consciousness, wakes up in the morning with a large beard, and his fish tank had lost lots of water, as if a whole week had gone by!
- Why don’t we remember what happens during the missing time if all we do is driving (finding ourselves miles away?). That’s because our brain can not store hours and hours of memories that occur in seconds in real time. If we see our brain as a computer, it has speed limitations. During the time of trying to process the previous abduction information, no new memories are recorded. That’s why the people finding themselves miles away, still safely driving, can’t remember they got there. But they DID drive there, it’s just that the brain was busy storing information! At the end it bails out, and the abduction memory is going away (the aliens don’t have anything special to do for it, it happens naturally). And of course, different brains would work at a different speed than others, so slightly different amount of memories would manage to get saved on each person that experience the same thing.
Now, put all that together, and you have a near-flawless operation that is outside our memory/brain capacity, leaving only vague ideas about it, enough to create myths or religions. Which is to their advantage anyway.
I cringe so much when I read people saying about aliens coming here to study us and what not. These people can’t even imagine a world beyond their own nose, and the boring, unimaginative, pedestrian sci-fi movies they’ve seen (“people from another planet in a space car”). Reality is much more strange than that. In fact, the single movie that launched the modern sci-fi entertainment, 2001: A Space Odyssey, is much closer to the truth as to the nature of these beings than any other sci-fi that came after it. Telling, really. As if humanity can’t deal with it, and they rather create pulp fiction instead. Anyways… rant off on sci-fi movies…
One last thing that gets me is when people start saying that we will soon have “AI singularity”. Without thinking that the universe is massive, and it is 15 bn years old. If AI singularity can happen, it has ALREADY happened, billions of times already. The universe is not waiting for the Earthers to invent it. Which means that these beings (or their AI), is already here, has always been here since humanity existed, and they have nothing to gain from studying us. They know us better than we know ourselves. We’re just a (different kind) of resource or curiosity for them.
Earth is their garden, and we’re their flowers, as they themselves admittedly say without losing a beat.

Wow! Thanks so much for your insightful analysis based on what clearly is a detailed study of the contact literature and perhaps a reflection of a rich personal contact experience as well. You explanations remind me of the statement by John Keel that the flying saucer challenge is so complex that it can only be understood by looking at it from multiple points of view. As far as how involved flying saucer intelligences are with the challenges humanity is facing, my perspective is probably based more on hopes for assistance than necessarily a reflection of their actual aims. Twenty-nine years ago, in October of 1993 I was leading a contact team of seven activists at the base of Queen Mountain in Joshua Tree. It was on that night that I received a telepathic “override” alerting me to when a UFO was to show up at our “research station.” I was informed one craft was to appear at exactly 2 AM in the northeast sky. Sure enough a red glowing object traversed the NE sky as “scheduled.” After the sighting I received a telepathic communication. It wasn’t a “voice in the head” but rather a three part message that was experienced as a kind of gentle “knowingness.” It was as follows: “You are a young race. You have much to learn. and WE ARE GOING TO TEACH YOU!” (emphasis mine of course.)

Okie doke- this one was great 😂 – I love all your posts to be frank, and one good turn deserves another, so here goes…
Most would have called me a complete fool for, after a life of very peculiar high strangeness, making an effort to write it all off. Perhaps it got too intense.. perhaps I was too skeptical… but there are still posts from just a few short years ago as evidence, I wasn’t quick to say I’d had “experiences” (even though I clearly had) and instead just tried to rationalize.. well.. everything.
I called myself all sorts of things during that brief year or two. The budding atheist/agnostic I believed myself to be.. freedom from the weirdness at last, I thought! And while I couldn’t explain the anomalous phenomenon in the sky I saw with other witnesses, it was just that, right? Surely, there had been other explanations for X, Y, and well, for Z, i must have simply had a “breakdown” of some sort….Something I couldn’t explain didn’t equate to phenomenonal…. it had to be “me”… but it wasn’t me, and these occurrences would not stop just because I denied them.
So my battle to never tell the stories of what I almost called a former life ended when an absolutely mind breaking event occurred…
My girlfriend had called while I was shopping and asked me for ibuprofen. Two days prior, I discovered an unopened bottle and put it in a high storage cabinet. So naturally, I said “there is some there, I’ll get it in a few minutes when I come home” and left the grocery store I was at across the street.
When I got home, I told my girlfriend I was putting the grocery away, then I’d get her whatever she wished. She asked for a drink so I first go to get the drink and then return, hand it to her, and say “alright let me get that from the cabinet” (meaning the ibuprofen) and at first she sort of laughs with a “duh, you just did that”and holds up the bottle…. my heart drops… I knew I didn’t hand her that… I immediately exclaim “It wasn’t me that handed that to you, where did you get it?” She then gets worried, as she can tell I am, and responds to the effect of “you just came in the room and handed it to me and walked away”…
Now there is some back story. Namely, I knew where the ibuprofen was because I had multiple reasons to go into the cabinet where I put it and it was very high up in the room she was in… in other words, I couldn’t possibly have brought it in the room, it was already there, just way too high up for her to reach or find without a stool I used to get up in the little storage cabinet….. so between the height and location, there was no way it was me without my knowing/remembering..
So panicked now, I turn, hop up into the cabinet and grab the ibuprofen I knew was there…. it was. I then take the one she had and compared them…. exact same bottle, exact same serial, exact same dates, exact same EVERYTHING.
I won’t continue to explore how thoroughly we checked from every percievable angle before being assured something uncanny had occurred. The ibuprofen was from a pharmacy we hadn’t even been to in months (certainly not that day or even that week).
There was just no explanation for it… I shared it on reddit dumbfounded and then came here and slowly began finding acceptance for the weirdness in my life. I’ve come to find it quite appreciable, to be honest.

Regarding the STS-48 incident. Jack Kasher analyzed the data and concluded the beams of light came from Western Australia. It was rumored to be Exmouth base (also called Harold Holt navy station), a joint US-AUS navy facility on the NW coast. So is it a covert UAP monitoring and defense site? The spot has been subjected to strange goings on for years as Ross Coulthart has reported.
Name Deleted: Such events are only strange as long as we remain in the snare of a materialistic perception. When humanity can realize itself as souls traveling in a universe of multiple dimensions and experiences will we join the cosmos of all beings, as full fledged members. They keep showing us how exciting and magical their reality is, but we adhere to being baffled instead of embracing it as part of our own nature, which it is.
Name Deleted: Could it be that what may be occurring in regards to the cloaking capabilities of off world craft is less physics manipulation and more biochemical bio physiological sensory manipulation of tiny electrical brain activity? Occam’s razor applied here for it seems to me that it would be far easier to map and access the transceiver of the human brain that is unshielded from directed energy devices and since we can presume that they have been able to have unlimited access to hominids for who knows how long, it would pass the test of reasonableness to suggest plausibility in their having the requisite time to map all normal human brain functions and fine tune their technology to have effective impact to obscure, remove, interfere with our sensory input and processing ability.
Good points, but why not both? Sensory and memory manipulation for sure as this is the core of my Virtual Experience Hypothesis. If the simulation theory is correct, manipulation of spacetime that Vallee has strongly suggested would allow them to dematerialize and dematerialize objects at will. Their powers of telekinesis are likely so powerful that they can surgically remove cancers, rebuild entire organ systems as demonstrated by the healing cases that Preston Dennett and I documented in Chapter 6 of “Beyond UFOs.”
Name Deleted:I have seen UFOs cloak so many times, and been touched by invisible beings in shared experiences, that i now assume they will be cloaked. I was once shown how they cloak over a one-minute period, when a UFO disappeared from the top down, slowly, and i then got telepathy to show they were still there. The ETs have almost infinite control over the laws of physics and reality as we know it. Anyone practicing HICE / CE5 needs to take the ETs ability to appear as anything they wish, and disappear whenever and however they wish as a given, and not start out with preconceptions of what “ET” experiences will look like.
Name Deleted:I had an experience last year, my daughter ( about 2 1/4 at the time ) and I were playing in the backyard when I looked up at the sky. As I looked, a dark, amorphous shape appeared then disappeared almost at the same time. Even though I didn’t see much detail I knew it was “them”. I just knew it with absolute certainty.
It was the first time and the only time I’ve seen a vessel in the daytime.
The thing of it that struck me is the impression that they uncloaked only a part of it.
Also, the fact I was with my daughter was with me seemed significant.
There was a feeling of rightness to it and that it was meant for me. She was oblivious, happily running and exploring the yard.
Joseph Burkes On several FB pages in response to this postings the question was asked concerning the truthfulness of Mr. Sparks. Here is my detailed response,
“Joseph Burkes There were aspects of his story that have not been reported in the popular UFO literature or the lecture circuit that high level contact workers(contactees) have described; the stories of these activists are compelling, they have revealed these contacts to me in strict confidence, have never sought to publicize them and thus, I have no doubt that they were telling me the absolute truth as they know it. So that places parts of Sparks’ story in the true column. Significant in the narrative , however is the report from a young woman that is a fellow activist that met Jim with me in the desert and then spoke to him at length on the phone. Her comments about his ambition to have his story told in a movie indicated the high probability that much of his story was possibly made up.
This became even more clear in my mind when I repeatedly asked him to join our network of contact workers that are having regular sightings because of their close connection with UFO Intel. Some of these remarkable people are what I call “prime contactees” and serve not only as “agents of influence” spreading propaganda about peace and love (as I have) but also consistently bring in the “craft”, and independent observers can verify these repeated sightings. When Mr. Sparks acted like he didn’t know what I was talking about and declined the opportunity to work with us, I thought that his claim of continued sightings was probably made up. After all, what better way to gain publicity for his book, and perhaps getting a Hollywood deal would be than having multiple credible observers (I am internal medicine specialist) corroborate his relation to the “ETs.”

I found him to be very genuine, understandably quick tempered and at times quite confused.
I found his experiences interesting and plausible, save for the MILAB side of things. that side goes very deep and is not really accessible to us all.
I tried to contact the gentleman who was part of the mass abduction that Sparks was party to. i was insulted and cussed at and told to lose his number. he neither confirmed nor denied his part.
I think folk underestimate the ET msg in the Sparks story. especially the need fr amnesty fr humans involved in the Milab.
Sparks as with all humans to a degree wud not turn down a Hollywood opportunity. in any event his testimony is set in stone. he carries a huge burden….resides in Ozzy under his real name, which is Cloaked by the pseudoname Sparks.
Contactunderground: Thank you Name Deleted for giving details of Jim Sparks that creates a more complete portrait of the man, the experiences, and his possible mission. What happened to me with the missing DMV code was in a sense of powerful validation of the aspect of his story concerning invisibility and indirectly perhaps to all parts of his narrative.
Name Deleted: Timing lol… Joseph, I remember the time you shared this experience before, I don’t know a year or so ago maybe. I particularly remembered b/c they gave me a similar message after reading your post that also confirmed it for me. I had put my yellow lighter down on the cigarette machine on the table in the living room, (where I usually keep it),
went into the kitchen and finished reading your post while doing something. Then about 5 mins later went to pick up my lighter and it was gone. I was confused as I was sure I had left it there, but figured I must’ve left it somewhere else on accident. So I searched around other places and couldn’t find it. Then I suddenly had the thought they had cloaked it and that it was still there, and I thought “I’m going to go into the other room and look for it and then come back in here and grab for it and it’ll be there”. So I did and when I came back into the living room, looked at my cigarette machine, n lol n behold, there it was, the yellow lighter, exactly where I had left it. And no one else was in the house at the time that could’ve moved it. I realized they had given me the same answer as u, and confirmed for me your story. Also, as a side note, the timing of this post is further relevant now. 2nights ago I had seen some UFOs in the sky towards the western horizon. But there had been this strange huge fuzzy grey cloud all along the western horizon, longways, and it seemed off to me somehow. It blocked the setting sun, and it had the look of a giant cloud “ice wall”, (I remarked to my bf it reminded me of the ice wall from Game of Thrones). Other clouds looked normal and would move w the wind while this one stayed in the exact same place for hours, and its boundary had an odd fuzziness, u couldn’t focus your eyes on very well, even tho it was very thick. A little later after the sun went down, we watched as these white lights started moving in the sky, looking like they come up from behind it. They would brighten for a few secs and then dim out and disappear from view. One after another. All in the same area. They kinda looked like they had an upward/northly trajectory, as if they were coming from something. We counted about 25 of them. I had the feeling there was prob a ship hiding behind the cloud and wondered if they were some kind of drone perhaps, or smaller ones. Before and after this experience there was also some other more subtle (and personal) ways they let me know they may be around (in ways they do).
Joseph Burkes If UFO Intel can project holographic type of visual displays, they can stage sightings of craft whatever size they want. Radar returns indicate something truly physical is there, but what we see may not be the mass that is creating the radar return. UFO intelligences have been staging “wonders in the skies” I strongly suspect for centuries and now we have advanced technology plus a wealth of literate experiencers that are recording their bizarre interactions in books, videos, blogs and movies. For reasons that U can only guess at, UFO intel staged a series of encounters that led me to understand an important mechanism of contact that I call the Virtual Experience Model, or theory.

Joseph Burkes reply terrestrial science was 100,000 years old instead of 500 years then we might have better models for how they do it. Simply speaking the brain is an electrical organ and by stimulating certain parts of the brain remotely using electromagnetism the so called ETs can create full sensory illusions and encode memory. As far as it being “convenient” the fact that John Keel speculated on this concept 50 years ago and no one has followed up on it until my humble efforts, I don’t think of it as convenient ie “easy.”
Name Deleted: My wife and I have had the disappearing act too where we’ll look and look and look for the same item together at the same time. We’ll check and double check spots the other person has already checked. Once we give up, the item “magically” appears in a spot we’ve already combed.
Name Deleted: I believe this; though I was tempted to make the usual jokes about us older people and memory. But frankly, that would just be a way of deflecting something very uncomfortable.
As for UFOs in the driveway, I’ve heard something close. A high school friend and her sister saw one land in their backyard when they were in grade school, which would have been the mid to late 1950s. I didn’t exactly believe them, but notice I never forgot the story. I didn’t want to know because since the early 50s, I’ve gone through repeated abductions.
In addition, an old friend who is a ship captain and thus well-trained at observations saw one close up about 3 years ago. He went to put out the garbage late at night at his suburban home in a Gulf Coast city when he saw the lights. Much braver then I would have been, he walked out into the street and the triangular, house-sized shape followed. He then walked up the street, same. When he returned to his house, he looked up just before shutting the door, and it disappeared. Not as in zooming off or going behind a cloud, just gone instantly. (Some identifying details are changed to protect the person involved. The story is as related to me. He told me because he knew I’d understand.)
Re: Sparks. While in grad school during a seminary stay in Oct. 1999, I “saw” a reptilian. At the time, I did not know they were part of the lore. I had decided I should, for spiritual reasons, deal with my fear of the grays. The entity with spring green, small scaled skin wasn’t hostile at all. He merely said to me, “well, you wanted to see us.” I was stunned. He (?) simply faded away.
Personally, I find the high-tech explanations a little too materialistic. Advanced physical entities projecting images by means of physical apparatuses. To me, it’s as if the bright light show and other effects are a huge demonstration of the fallacy of reductionism. Perhaps proof of Mind over matter. Things appear and disappear. UFOs make 90 degree turns at impossible rates of acceleration. Yet clearly there is physical evidence, too. The lights make shadows, the landings leave marks, and there are radar traces. Traces on people, too. But if there were no concrete evidence, would we pay attention?

I am careful to use the term “holographic type” or “hologram like” to describe how UFO Intel creates visual displays that are illusory. I truly don’t know how they do it, but if they are physical beings and if Col Corso and others are correct that humans are shooting them down, then for survival’s sake the alleged ETs might want to use such technology. Wouldn’t you?

My narratives are part of an effort to describe not only one individual’s High Strangeness occurrences with the unseen intelligences associated with the UFO phenomenon, but more importantly to portray these incidents as part of a larger pattern of mental interactions that encompass the psychic mechanisms of contact employed across the planet.
