Prior to the Covid pandemic, I liked to read travel books about places that I wanted to visit. I prepared for a journey by learning basic information about a county’s geography, history and language. Rey Hernandez self-published work is a kind of tour book, not for outward journeys across the globe but instead for inner travels. The inner journey that Rey Hernandez takes us on is an exploration of the nature of consciousness. Understanding the central role of consciousness according to Rey Hernandez can facilitate a spiritual transformation allowing humanity not only to survive, but to thrive.
Consciousness in its most basic experiential description is the quality of being awake and being aware of that wakefulness. Although we can describe the experience of consciousness, it escapes a simple definition. This is not surprising if one accepts the proposition, as the author of this book does, that consciousness is the wellspring of creation and is not limited by time or space. In contrast, physicalists (materialists) assert that consciousness or mind is simply an emergent property of neuronal activity and therefor energy and matter are primary.
Rey’s inner journey started a decade ago with a series of high strangeness paranormal experiences. In March of 2012, his 15-year-old pet dog suddenly became paralyzed. On the morning that the animal was to be put to sleep, what Rey described as “an energy being” could be seen floating in his living room, and he witnessed his wife and pet dematerialize before his eyes. An hour later they suddenly rematerialized and their pet, according to Rey and his wife, was totally cured. This shocking event compelled him to read book after book on the anomalous phenomena. “The Mind of God” has extensive list of references that that can guide further readings on consciousness and the paranormal.
The most decisive high strangeness event happened to Rey Hernandez in May of 2013. He reports having an out of body experience in which he found his consciousness transported into the hub of an enormous Ferris wheel type structure. Each spoke of the wheel ended in a different kind of paranormal modality. These included Near Death Experiences, (NDEs) UFO contacts, Out of Body Experiences (OBEs), contact with ghosts, as well as several others. Rey calls these the “Contact Modalities” and their relationship to consciousness is a major theme of his book. During his OBE, Rey Hernandez reportedly received instructions as to how to initiate a project that has resulted in the publication of a series of books that explore the relationship between consciousness and the Contact Modalities. This book serves as an introduction to a four volume in depth anthology that Rey Hernandez is publishing with the title “A Greater Reality: the New Paradigm of Nonlocal Consciousness, the Paranormal & the Contact Modalities.” These volumes include dozens of articles by experts in consciousness studies, the various contact modalities, and contact experiencers.
“The Mind of God” gives an overview of the nature of consciousness and the ways famous scientists and religions have understood its importance. The book explains how all the Contact Modalities are united in that they are manipulations of spacetime within a matrix of consciousness. Thus, the book presents a unifying theory of what is called “the paranormal.” In addition, given the current crises afflicting our planet, global warming, war, poverty and racism, Rey Hernandez points to the need for a spiritual transformation of humanity’s mass consciousness as a prerequisite for our civilization’s survival. I highly recommend this book.
