“We must prevent what we cannot cure. There is no cure for nuclear war.”

This was the slogan of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR), a medical doctors’ anti-nuclear weapons group that I was active in during the height of the Cold War four decades ago.

Flying saucer intelligences have continued to appear at nuclear weapons facilities across the planet for over seventy-years.  In the judgment of many observers, they are sending us a warning concerning what are in a sense not defensive weapons, but rather are instruments of genocide.

I worked with Dr. Ira Helfand during the 1980s in Physicians for Social Responsibility. I was part of the team of doctors that produced a radio show on KPFK Los Angeles called “Prescription for Survival. I also served on the National Board of Directors of PSR whose offices were in Washington DC.  The International Physicians for The Prevention of Nuclear War, our umbrella organization uniting doctor peace activists from all over the world. This international organization won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985. I highly recommend your viewing this 14-minute video by my former colleague. In it, Dr. Helfand describes the medical consequences of nuclear war.
