“The only thing consistent about the phenomenon is that it is consistently strange.” Whitley Strieber
Hypothetical Contact Scenario: A UFO witness reports strange visitations of non-human beings. While in a dream like state, she is repeatedly taken through the wall of her bedroom and floated into a UFO. During her encounters she finds herself on alien worlds with strange buildings inhabited by aliens that telepathically communicate with her. They have established peace on their planets by embracing “unqualified love.” She awakens back in her bedroom each morning after her “encounters” and believes what she has experienced are not dreams. There are no other witnesses to these events. Her husband never awakens during them, nor do her many pets stir.
When she attempts to share what she has experienced with family and friends, the experiencer is told that both she and her stories are “ridiculous.” On one occasion she finds what she considers to be strange scratches and marks on her body. When she describes these findings as “proof”, family members laugh at her.
What is the purpose of the high strangeness aspects of the contact experience? Do they reflect alien technologies that are so far advanced compared to ours that they appear to contradict the laws of nature, at least as we know them? Perhaps, but there might be more subtle reasons behind the weird aspects of encounters. According to noted UFO researcher Dr. Jacques Vallee, the bizarre nature of many contacts may have a number of important purposes.
First of all, high strangeness demonstrates that UFO intelligences are totally different from us. The so-called “aliens” behave as if the rules of time and space, cause and effect are not operational when we encounter them. They are so strange that according to Dr. Vallee they appear not to be from some other planet but rather from “another dimension.”
Dr. Jacques Vallee asserts that UFO intelligences deliberately introduce many absurd elements into contact events, and that they have a staged quality to them. One direct result of this kind of theater of the absurd is to allow the authorities, media, government officials and academia to ridicule contact experiencers. If this is a deliberate strategy by UFO intelligences what might the purpose be?
Writing in his classic book “The Invisible College,” Dr. Jacques Vallee suggested 50 years ago that one purpose might be not only to allow our leaders to readily dismiss reports of contact. Dr. Vallee also suggested that these seemingly absurd occurrences are having a profound impact, not only on individuals being contacted, but also on society in general. Perhaps just below the surface of our awareness, these apparently absurd encounters have a powerful effect on humanity’s collective consciousness.
Slowly overtime, the effect may be to change our existing belief systems. The purpose of UFOs may not be to visit our planet, but rather to transform human consciousness itself!
We sometimes bring tangible, observable abilities back with us from our experiences that likewise can make us seem ridiculous (see my site for case in point). It is up to us to delve into them deeply and thoroughly enough to share them with educated insight. Yes, as you say in closing, it is a transformative process of our Earth-human-level consciousness.

agree entirely and can relate to your hypothetical case. The goal, purpose and intent does seem to be some form of subtle manipulation of our psycho-spiritual evolution/development. I gave up years ago trying to gather “evidence” or convince anyone of anything around this subject matter. If these intelligent beings need me to do or be something then, even in spite of my inadequacies and inconsistencies, I am no doubt being and doing it. We cannot but speculate at what imperatives drive them, but the impact on our collective view of ourselves and our place in the Great cosmic scale of things cannot be denied.
